Tarique Rahman will address BNP National Council

Tarique Rahman - Sr. Vice Chair, Bangladesh Nationalist Party - BNP

Chairperson Khaleda Zia will inaugurate the council at 10 am on Mar 19 at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.

The BNP has already finalised the council slogan, logo and programme schedule.

Tarique had also given his speech via video conference in the party’s last council held in December 2009.

On Sunday, Khaleda and her son Tarique were declared elected the chairperson and senior vice-chairman respectively, as there were no contenders.

The council’s management and publicity sub-committee Convener Gayeshwar Chadra Roy told bdnews24.com on Monday that the council was being held braving many odds.

Roy, also a BNP Standing Committee member, said there was excitement with the party about the meet and all the sub-committees were working hard for its success.

He said they would soon begin a media campaign for the council, including in social networking sites such as Facebook.

Roy said a ‘theme song’ and a separate website for the council had also been finalised.

Altogether 27,000 councilors have been invited to take part. Distribution of ‘Councilors Card’ will begin at the BNP’s Naya Paltan headquarters from Mar 16.
